Enemies of the People

Adapted from her memoir, Erika Marozsán's solo show Enemies of the People is a moving and musically driven journey through family, history, and self-discovery. The piece follows Kati's search for freedom and understanding as she uncovers the truth about her family's past in post-war Hungary. It's a story of resilience and reflection, told with emotional honesty and artistic purpose.

Music plays a vital role in shaping the show's atmosphere. Composers Márton Kovács and Ádám Móser blend dramatic tension with soulful melodies, deepening the emotional pull of Marozsán's storytelling. Their score gives the production a haunting rhythm that feels both historical and timeless.

Marozsán herself gives a grounded, heartfelt performance. She connects deeply to the material, carrying the weight of personal history with grace and strength. At times, the production built and built, creating layers of tension and emotion without always releasing them fully. It reached a state of high, but never an overture of a rollercoaster, feeling still at specific points. Yet even in those quieter moments, the sincerity of her performance keeps the audience engaged.

Enemies of the People reminds us how history shapes identity and how reclaiming our stories can be both painful and empowering.
