I knew this would land the moment I saw her rehearse. After twenty six shows back to back, Lucia arrives with the confidence of someone who has already proven the point. This performance is a full bodied extravaganza of voices, stories, and soul, all circling one deceptively simple question: who are you, really.
Lucia’s journey is built on contradiction. When her parents question her career choice with the blunt line, “So you want to be a comedian? The same thing you did at school,” the doubt is familiar and sharp. But sports is her other language, and it never leaves the stage. Born with athletic talent she could not fully use as a woman, she chooses persistence over permission. When professional women’s soccer did not exist in Italy until 2019, she did not wait. She went to Berlin.
From football tricks to juggling to Berlin techno clubs, the show moves effortlessly between worlds. Her language skills are impressive, but her acting is what holds everything together. The ball may open the door, but it is her presence that carries her forward.
Lucia is a singular performer. The show is funny, surprising, and emotionally generous. It makes you laugh, makes you ache, and reminds you why talent paired with stubborn belief still matters. An exquisite piece of theatre and a rare voice.
