Stories From The Brink

Stories From the Brink, written and performed by award-winning performer Iris Bahr, was an incredible production. I wanted to see another hour of the near-death experiences to be told. From the stories of her mom having dementia and growing up in a Yeshiva in NYC, to witnessing the reasons why people think the way they do, everything spoken and performed on stage was perfect. This production tied into a full circle, and showcased the perfection of storytelling as it should be. Bahr's stories had me snorting with laughter; she hit her cues and was a comedy master. The stories were related to near-death experiences and what it means to understand death at one point. The multi-panel stories all tied together at the end, resolving what we all fear about death and bringing it to life. This is why I highly recommend this show to people who just want a show that they can listen to, learn from, and relax to.

Bahr's performance was gold; every word had a meaning behind it, with details and hidden bits that make you laugh out loud. The stories ranged from retellings of the trip of a lifetime to Peru, to magic mushrooms, to a tear-jerking visit to a gravesite. This was a show that will be in my head for my whole life; I would see it again.

Don't be shocked at the stories of growing up in NYC as a child; they were to the point and gave what they needed to give. Bahr doesn't waste your time in the theatre; she knows what her show is and how great a performance she gives every night. If her show were a zoo, she would be the lion; that's how powerful a performance she gave. It was truly the best I have seen.
