Stewart Huff’s Is Anything OK? feels at times like a comedy set delivered from the edge of a Sunday sermon. The tone is reflective and philosophical, yet it is aimed at an audience ready to laugh rather than sit quietly with big ideas.
Huff begins by bantering with the crowd in a way that feels warm and personal. He presents himself as someone relatable, though the show takes time to reveal exactly what that connection is meant to be. Early on, the storytelling wanders. The jokes arrive as fragments and observations, and the larger point of the evening feels just out of reach.
Around the halfway mark, the pieces begin to settle. Huff reveals that the show is less about punchlines and more about trust in humanity. The concept becomes clearer and the material starts to land with more purpose. This is not fast paced stand up. It is a slower build that asks the audience to listen closely before the humor and meaning come together.
Huff’s stage presence carries the evening. He is energetic, slightly chaotic, but clearly in control of his rhythm. Some jokes land harder than others, and a few feel aimed at a Southern sensibility that may not connect with every New York crowd. Still, there are moments of genuine laughter and reflection.
By the end, the show finds its footing. Huff blends humor with darker questions about the world and our place in it. It is an uneven but intriguing set that suggests a comedian capable of reaching a wider audience. It would not be surprising to see this material evolve into a streaming comedy special in the future.
