Who’s Serving Who?

Blonde, vivacious, and adorable Kelsie McDonald ricochets around the stage like an energizer bunny as Sydney in her debut solo show, Who's Serving Who

The show is focused on Sydney's shift at "The Day Job" from spilled drinks and hiding under the table to heartfelt confessions in the supply closet. Sydney traverses the familiar highs and lows of food service with charm to spare. McDonald's Aussie-isms sparkle throughout the show, showcasing true comedic highlights. Butchering Spanish and being completely unaware of American colloquialisms makes the character of Sydney even more infectious as we watch her truly try her best to navigate the world in front of her. The heart of the show comes with a steady trickle of revelations surrounding Sydney's mother's death and her own cancer test results, culminating in her finally answering her father's call, which has been looming and present throughout the show.

Who's Serving Who? is steeped in LA culture, directly referring to the different aspects of life there and how they've shaped Sydney's life; it is no surprise that this show was a success at the Hollywood Fringe, where it debuted. While NYC audiences might not connect with the "LA-ness" of it all, they will connect with Sydney as a character. Awkward, dorky, sweet, and lovable, Sydney wants to do her best to survive her shift and follow her dreams, something everyone can relate to.

McDonald had an encore show on Saturday, April 12th, and after being served by Sydney-- I'm sure many people will be back hungry for more!
